Swallow’s Rest — hand-crafted hideaways on our family farm

Our beautiful shepherds hut — Swallow’s Nest — were named by our community and hand-built on the farm by Mike, a dear family friend. Each has its own personality, with interiors lovingly designed by us — velvet curtains, toasty underfloor heating and gorgeous throws and cushions made by India.

We’ve put heart and craft into every detail — from eco-conscious touches to locally sourced comforts. Toiletries are by Wild England, whose ethos mirrors our own. Just a short stroll away, our on-site kitchen and workshop serve homemade breakfast, lunch and dinner to order.  Your tea & coffee tray is curated with tasty treats — and the artisan coffee is locally roasted and ground by Field & Fire, a brilliant small business we’re proud to support.  Ready to roam? Choose from scenic walking routes created for our guests — or we can arrange a friendly local guide.  In The Granary, join hands-on workshops from macramé to willow weaving. Whether you’re here to unwind, explore or get creative, there’s something for everyone. Features include: Underfloor heating to keep you warm all year, artisan coffee locally roasted by Field & Fire, Wild England toiletries chosen for their eco-friendly ethos, handmade throws and cushions for extra comfort, and curated walking routes that showcase the beauty of the fells.

A full-size bed with plush bedding and soft lighting makes this a calm, characterful space to switch off and relax together.  Private shower room Enjoy the comfort of hot running water, fluffy towels, and a spacious shower — all inside your hut for complete privacy.  Breath-taking fell views –  wake to birdsong and big skies; watch the light change across the fells with a fresh cup of locally roasted coffee in hand.  Thoughtful eco-touches – we use Wild England toiletries, efficient heating, and carefully chosen materials throughout — small details that make a big difference.

 

Homemade food, events and attractions on-site

Breakfast, lunch or dinner is available to order from our kitchen and workshop — comforting, seasonal, and always fresh.  And workshops are the nearby Granary you can book – Explore workshops  Walks & local guides – choose from our curated walking routes or let us pair you with a friendly local guide to help you discover hidden corners of the fell.
